Fr. Nicolas
Our spiritual father was baptized Roman Catholic at birth. He became a Catholic Friar in his 20’s but, dissatisfied with all the changes that came about after Vatican II, he left the Roman Church and joined the Traditional Old Catholic Church. He was eventually ordained a priest within that Church
In 1987, Fr. Nicolas encountered Orthodoxy and realized that if he wanted to join the True Church of Christ, if he wanted to go back to the roots of Christianity, he had to join himself to the Ancient Faith as it is found today in the Orthodox Church. And for about 18 years now, Fr. Nicolas has been a member of the One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic and Orthodox Church.
Over the years, Father was tonsured into the Monastic degrees, ordained a Presbyter and elevated to the rank of Archimandrite.
On October 21st 2003, Archimandrite Nicolas
was canonically received within the Clergy ranks of the
Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese of America and Canada. Soon
afterwards, Archbishop Nicolae has asked Father Nicolas
to undertake a Mission in Toronto that would meet the
needs of English-speaking Orthodox and converts. However,
over a year later, the Archbishop enquired with Father
Nicolas if he would agree to leave aside the Mission in
order to work instead on a project to establish a Monastery
outside Toronto.
