An Appeal For Your Support
Become a FOUNDER of Holy Cross Monastery
Since February 2007, with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Nicolae from Chicago, our monastic and temporary location in North York is now a known fact to more and more people. And there are always new comers who just discovered us either on the internet or through family and friends.
Also, since December 2008, Hierodeacon Mardarie from Constanta has come to join our efforts. Even though Fr. Mardarie’s actual status in Canada is now only as ‘visitor’ for the purpose of serving at the Monastery, Fr. Mardarie will be received officially within the ranks of the clergy of the Romanian Orthodox Archdiocese in the Americas sometime in 2012 and then he will be appointed officially by the Archdiocese to serve at the Monastery which will allow us, in those conditions, to apply for Fr. Mardarie to become a permanent resident in Canada.
Our Chapel has become too small for the number of people who attend our Sunday services. We have gone up from 25 people to, sometimes, 60 people! Because of this, we have had to remove most of the chairs and carpeted the floors: people now stand for the Liturgy as it is traditional in the monasteries. Naturally, most of the people also stay for Agape after the service and our Trapeza is also way too small to accommodate everyone.
We now feel that the time has come for us to look for a place of our own which will afford us more space and where we can build or transform the premises to meet our needs and those of our visitors. Therefore we are seriously searching for a property and buildings which could benefit us to permanently establish our monastery.
To this end, we need the financial support of Orthodox Christians and especially from the Romanian community for which this monastery is primarily established. At this point, we have secured monthly contributions toward our mortgage for about $2,000 but we need to double this amount to insure our monthly coverage over the years to come.
In order to materialize our efforts, we need to find a FOUNDER and are counting as well on all concerned Christians with the means to become a Benefactor, Donor or Contributor to the establishment of our Monastery. We need your help now and we pray that you will hear the Lord’s call to establish a Spiritual Oasis for Orthodox Christians in Toronto and the GTA. You can make a donation on-line through our website or you can also mail us your donation for which you will receive a Charity Receipt at year’s end: please do not hesitate to call us or to write.
“The one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully." Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work. As it is written, “They scatter abroad, they give to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.’ … You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us” 2 CO. 9:6-11

Apel pentru sprijin
Deveniţi CTITORI ai Mănăstirii Sfânta Cruce
Începind din Aprilie 2007, locaţia noastră monastică temporară din North York a devenit din ce in ce mai cunoscută printre credincioşii români. In plus, avem întotdeauna noi veniţi care ne găsesc prin Internet sau prin familie si prieteni.
De asemenea, începind din Decembrie 2008, Ierodiaconul Mardarie din Constanţa, a venit să sprijine eforturile noastre. Deşi statutul Pr. Mardarie in Canada este de “vizitator” cu scopul sprijinirii Mănăstirii, urmează ca Pr. Mardarie să fie primit oficial in rândul slujitorilor Arhiepiscopiei Ortodoxe Române Din Cele Două Americi cândva, in 2012 şi să fie numit oficial de către Eparhie in slujba Mănăstirii. Cu această ocazie, vom solicita pentru Pr. Mardarie statutul de resident Canadian.
Capela noastră a devenit prea strâmtă pentru numărul credinciosilor care vin la slujba de Duminică. Noi am crescut de la 25 de credincioşi la mai mult de 60, uneori! Din acest motiv a trebuit să eliminăm majoritatea scaunelor. Acum credincioşii care participă la liturghie stau in picioare, precum este şi tradiţia la mănăstiri. Dupa slujbă, cei care rămân la parastas, se adună in trapeză – care a devenit neâncăpătoare.
A sosit timpul să căutam un loc al nostru, care să ne ofere mai mult spaţiu şi unde să putem construi sau renova, spre a se potrivi necesităţilor noastre si ale vizitatorilor noştri. De aceea am inceput să căutam in mod serios o proprietate cu clădirile corespunzătoare care să ne permită a fonda un locaş monastic permanent. In acest scop avem nevoie de ajutorul financiar al Creştinilor Ortodocşi din toate parohiile. Deja avem contribuţii lunare pentru mortgage de $2000, care reprezintă jumătate din cit avem nevoie.
Pentru a ne materializa eforturile, dorim să găsim credincioşi care să voiască a deveni Ctitori ai Mănăstirii Sfânta Cruce. In această acţiune avem nevoie de ajutorul dumneavoatră şi ne rugăm Domnului pentru ca dumneavoastră să răspundeţi la apelul nostru de a întemeia Casa Domnului, ca o Oază Spirituală a Poporului lui Dumnezeu.
Pentru donaţii, aveţi posibilitatea să trimiteţi prin poştă, sau electronic prin website-ul mănăstirii. La sfirşitul anului, veţi primi “Charity Receipt.”
“Cine seamănă puţin, puţin va secera; iar cine seamănă mult, mult va secera”. Fiecare din dumneavoastră trebuie să contribuie din inimă, nu cu reţinere sau forţat, pentru ca Dumnezeu iubeşte pe donatorul bucuros. Si Domnul poate să vă răsplătească cu binecuvintări din abundenţă, astfel incit, avind de toate din plin, să puteţi contribui tot din plin la toate lucrările cele bune, după cum este scris: “A imprăştiat, a dat săracilor; neprihănirea lui rămine in veac... In chipul acesta veţi fi imbogăţiţi in toate privinţele, pentru orice dărnicie, care prin noi, va face să se aducă mulţumiri lui Dumnezeu” [2 CO. 9:6-11].
